Tomorrow River Gallery featured in the November issue of Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce Newsletter
The Tomorrow River Gallery, 182 South Main Street, Amherst, www.tomorrowrivergallery.com, features many artists who specialize in re-imagine art forms and who are thrilled to find their unusual arts and crafts gain conventional acceptance.
Dawn Brandt, one such artist who markets her creations online and through the Tomorrow River Gallery comes from a long line of confirmed "junk" collectors.
Brandt refashions vintage fabrics and trims, buttons, jewelry parts, ornaments, beads and baubles into fun and funky bracelets, pillows, and ornaments. Added bits of embroidery, crochet, beading and quilting complete the original, whimsical and beautiful projects.
Other Tomorrow River Gallery artists who embellish their works of art with repurposed items include Jim Powel of Stevens Point, Sarah Raith and Ann Herzog-Wright of Amherst.
The gallery’s owner, Liz Zenk, uses discarded jewelry and broken glass to create décor for the garden including sun catchers, wind chimes, floral arrangers and gazing balls. Hours for the gallery through Christmas are Wednesday-Saturday 10-5, Sunday 10-2 or by appointment.
Featured Artist: Ann Herzog Wright
Artist's Reception: Friday, November 6th from 4-6 PM
Ann Herzog Wright has been a full time professional artist since 1970. Beginning in the 70's she worked under mentor George Carlson, who is considered one of the most respected artists in the country. Ann has sold her works through fine art galleries and museums throughout the country. Some of the most notable shows were Allied Artists of America in New York, Society of American Impressionists in Scottsdale Az., and St. Louis, Mo., Oil Painters of America, Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, C.M. Russell Museum in Great Falls Mt., Artists of America in Denver, Arts for the Parks in Jackson, Wy., Great Artists of America in Cincinnati, and Art DeMonde, Japan.
Ann's work has always reflected the surroundings in which she has lived and traveled. One of the more interesting trips that produced many paintings was her trip into West Africa. Along with these more exotic travels, the backyard on the ranch in Colorado also provided great opportunities. She has favored the human figures and domestic animals in rural settings. In Wisconsin she has found the lakes and rivers a prime source of inspiration. But in addition to that, as she puts it, “How can one not love all those cows in the evening light.” Of special interest, the show will also feature some of Ann's renderings of other artist's masterpieces.
The show will run through the end of November in our Second Story Studio.
